The Education Training Foundation (ETF) released it’s Digital Teaching Professional Framework (DTPF) in late 2018. It has been designed as a competency framework for teaching staff and training practitioners working in the Further Education (FE) sector.

“The framework sets out different teaching contexts and activities, and the main components that comprise each of these. Each component is mapped to relevant parts of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators, the ETF’s Professional Standards and Jisc’s six Digital Capabilities.” – ETF

The Framework focuses on the following 7 elements:

  1. Planning your teaching
  2. Approaches to teaching
  3. Supporting learners to develop employability skills
  4. Subject-specific and industry-specific teaching
  5. Assessment
  6. Accessibility and inclusion
  7. Self-development

…and is pitched at three key stages of development:

  1. Exploring
  2. Adopting
  3. Leading

Vikki Liogier, Head of Learning Technologies at the ETF outlines the framework here:

The full version of the framework can be viewed here.

To complement the programme I have created a document which would enable staff to showcase completing activities at the various competency levels. Click on the relevant icon below to download the file.

The staff using the document could either type/screenshot/add video/audio into the relevant tables and then seek peer feedback on their activities.

Alternatively, they could add in their digital badges from https://enhance.etfoundation.co.uk/ as they map directly into the framework, this information is highlighted in the module briefs on Enhance.
