Microsoft Office – Powerpoint has been a ‘fundamental’ part of the lesson for many years now, offering a great presentation package, which is very easy to use.
Powerpoint has recently been given a superpower in the form of Office Mix (for windows), adding some great interactive and collaborative features. However, is this upgrade enough, with lots of other presentation competitors on the market?

The Competition
Looking for an alternative, some people broke away, trying Prezi; which is a great online presentation software. However with the presentation whizzing around the screen, students were often left feeling a little sea sick. The new kids on the block, Microsoft Sway and Adobe Slate are well worth a look;
Office Sway
Microsoft re entered the presentation arena with Office Sway coming out of BETA in August 2015, Sway allows users to add text and media to create a presentation website. Microsoft describes Sway as; “a digital storytelling app for work, school and home that makes it quick and easy to create and share interactive reports, presentations, personal stories, and more. Add your content, and Sway will do the rest.” Check out Sway at https://sway.com/

With Sway being web based, creators are able to embed their presentations into websites.

Adobe Slate
Another alternative on the market is Adobe Slate, which like Sway offers a clean creation area. Adobe describes Slate as; “Adobe Slate is a free iPad app that lets you turn your next newsletter, report, invitation or travel adventure into a gorgeous visual story.” Check out Adobe slate at https://standout.adobe.com/slate/
